[This afternoon, Johto/Kanto, you are being treated to yet another video of Route 29’s vicinity, where there is this blond kid who’s wearing an outfit that’s definitely not suited for winter weather, aside from arguably the scarf. But aside from how he’s got it wrapped a little closer around himself than you usually wear that kind of scarf, he isn’t showing much minding of the cold.

This could be partially due to the fact that he is kind of sitting on a Growlithe, as though posed to ride it. Which, given his rather small height compared to your average adult, is evidently possible. Said Growlithe doesn’t seem to mind it, though.]

‘Sup? The name’s Kurow, and this girl and me, looks like we’re gonna be taking on that Gym Challenge. Should be a good time, am I right?

[“Growl!” The Growlithe barks affirmatively.]

Thought so! So like, since this looks like it’s connected to some kinda network, anyone got any tips before we set out? Like, anywhere we can find more food? Dunno how long it’ll be to the next town, but the stuff in the bag is totally nowhere near enough for both of us for more than a couple meals, and that’s if you stretch it.

The next town would be Cherrygrove, and it's about three days from where you are now... You may get there faster if you plan on riding your Growlithe.

About three days, huh... I think we can handle that.

By riding one of my pokémon, I once made the road between New Bark and Cherrygrove in a day, so you may be able to get there even faster.

Just remember to stop for food and rest at least twice a day.

Of course! Wouldn't want to tire out too much out in the middle of the snow and all. Is it, like, winter around here or something?

Yes, it's winter here. Spring is not too far, so it won't be long before everyone can walk freely again.

Awesome! But like, winter's pretty cool too. I've never seen this kind of snow on the ground before.

Yes, but winter is better if you have a warm house to go to after being in the snow.

Probably! So like, that's why I should head out as soon as I can, right? Doesn't look like there're a lot of places to stay in this town.

You can stay at the labs if you want to, but I would recommend moving on.

Think I'll pass on staying in some lab.

Like, anything else I should know before I head out?

Just be careful with the wild pokémon. It's cold so I don't think they will attack as much as they usually do, but it never hurt anyone to be careful.

Gotcha! Like, I'm pretty used to fighting when traveling, but dunno if this girl is, so we'll be careful.

The next time isn't for another 3 days by foot, maybe less if you walk quickly and rest less often. Fire Pokemon like yours give you warmth though, so that'll help you as well. [The smile disappears then though, because he's not going to like this next part.]

You will need to try and provision yourselves with food until the next town though.

There's gotta be some kind of store around here or something, right? I mean, like, it's a town. There are folks that live around here.

I'm sorry. Cherrygrove is the closest. I'm not sure where the locals in that town get their supplies from, but at least no one is aware of someone to buy goods from in New Bark.

That ain't cool at all.

...but, like, guess we'll just have to make do. If it's just three days, we can probably hang in there, right girl?

["Lithe!" The Growlithe barks affirmatively again.]

Hmm. [She pauses and glances at her own Pokemon.]

I could probably send you a care package, if you'd like?

Seriously? You'd do that?

Of course. I'm sorry I can't lend you Torch to fly, as she hasn't learned how to carry people yet, but I can at least send her over with some food and an extra blanket for you.

That'd be so awesome!! Like, is Torch your partner?

Then I'll send her along! Torch is actually a different Pokemon I inherited. Her trainer left, so I'm taking care of her.

What's she look like? So I know what to look out for.

[She takes a moment to actually go outside. There's a big orange flying dragon thing (that would be a Charizard) in view for a moment.]

She is, isn't she? I can't take the credit for her improvement though, as I inherited her after someone left.

Doesn't make her any less awesome! Makes me want to see what other cool kinds are out there.

Very true. [She smiles at that.]

There are a lot of different types of Pokemon, and even those evolve as they level up. The Growlithe you have there can turn into an Arcanine if you use a Fire Stone, but it misses out on some skills if you do it too quickly.

Turn into? Like, how does that work?

We're not entirely sure, I suppose it's like growing up?

Growing up? Oh, so she'll, like, get bigger and stronger and stuff? Is that it?

Somewhat like that, yes. However, some Pokemon change forms entirely.

Yes! There are many different types of Pokemon here.

Wonder how many kinds girl here and I'll get to see!

["Growl!" She seems to think lots and lots.]

Probably quite a few, there are lots here, and if you travel around you should get to see more.

Guess that's just, like, one more reason to get started, then!
